OAP Usage Instructions (Product Groups)

The OAP (Option As Product / Product Groups) module allows you to combine independent products into visual groups (for example, by color, size, or memory capacity). Unlike standard OpenCart options, where each color is just an attribute within a single product, this module allows each color to be a separate product with its own URL, description, price, and SEO tags, but visually on the product page they will look like convenient option switches.

1. Creating global groups

Before combining products, you need to create the grouping types themselves. Go to Extensions -> Extensions -> Modules -> Product Groups and click "Edit".

1. Enable the module status.
2. In the table below, you can add new global groups by clicking "Add".
3. For each group, specify:
   • Name (e.g., "Color", "Memory", "Size").
   • Display Type:
     • Color — outputs switches in the form of colored circles.
     • Image — outputs thumbnail photos of the products themselves.
     • Text — outputs switches in the form of text buttons.
   • Sort Order (the output order of the blocks if the product has multiple groups).

2. Linking products

After creating the groups, proceed to combine specific products:

1. Open Catalog -> Products and select the main product to edit.
2. A new Groups tab will appear at the top. Go to it.
3. Add a block of the desired group (for example, "Color").
4. In the search field, start typing the names of other products that are variations (for example, the same phone, but in a blue and red case) and add them to the list.
5. Depending on the selected group type:
   • If the type is Color: set the HEX color code for each product in the list (you can set up to two colors for a gradient or combined color).
   • If the type is Text: set a text value for each product (e.g., "64 GB", "128 GB").
6. Save the product.

Important

You do not need to repeat this procedure for each variation product separately! As soon as you link products together in one main product, the module will automatically set mutual links for all products from this list.

3. Result on the storefront

Now, when visiting any of the linked products, the client will see the "Color" or "Memory capacity" block. When clicking on a colored circle or a memory capacity plate, the client will be redirected to the page of the corresponding variation product.
