RQ Reviews Usage Instructions ​

The RQ Reviews module is a powerful review and question (Q&A) management system that supports media uploads, an advanced reward system, micro-markup, and much more.

This manual details all tabs and module settings.

1. "General settings" Tab ​

Here the basic logic of the module is set.

  • Status: Enabling or disabling the module.
  • Enable "Questions": Activates additional functionality (a separate tab) for product questions and answers (Q&A).
  • Show in menu: Adds a link to the module in the site's navigation menu.
  • Default sorting: How to sort reviews by default (Latest, Most useful by likes, By rating, With photo/video).
  • Auto-moderation (Reviews / Questions): When enabled, new reviews and questions will be published on the site instantly, without prior approval by the administrator.
  • Save HTML markup: Allows users to format text. It is recommended to keep it disabled to avoid "broken" site layout.
  • Pagination / "Show more" button: How to load the next pages with reviews. Both methods can be used together.
  • Add Email field: Allows the user to leave an email to be notified when an administrator or another user replies to their review.
  • Micro-markup (Schema.org): Enables SEO markup of reviews for search engines (useful for the appearance of "stars" in Google search results).
  • Show pros/cons fields: Separate text fields to highlight product pros and cons.
  • Administrator notification: Setting up email notifications about new reviews to the main and additional store emails.
  • Captcha: Spam protection using built-in Google reCAPTCHA (requires pre-configuring keys in the CMS itself).
  • Default administrator name: The name on behalf of which store staff responses will be published (e.g., "Support Team").

2. "Limits" Tab ​

Allows you to limit spam and set character limits.

  • Number of reviews per page: The limit of reviews output before pagination appears.
  • Min/Max number of characters: Length limits for the user name, review text, and text in the pros/cons fields.
  • Registration restrictions: Rights settings (Leave reviews / Like / Comment). If enabled, anonymous guests will not be able to perform these actions. The restriction is useful for cheat protection.

3. "Photo/Video" Tab ​

A powerful tool for creating visual social proof (UGC content).

  • Allow photo / video / Youtube: Enabling the ability to attach various types of media to a review.
  • Show block with all photos and videos: Generates a special gallery at the beginning of the review block, where all media from all product reviews are collected (like on marketplaces).
  • Convert to WebP: Automatically converts heavy photos into the lightweight WebP format to speed up site loading (if you don't have a third-party WebP module).
  • Watermark: Ability to automatically overlay a watermark on user photos (you can set the image, size, and position — e.g., "Bottom right").
  • Resizing and limits:
    • Resize on upload: Physical reduction of a large picture to the specified pixels.
    • Size limit: Prohibition of uploading files exceeding the specified pixels.
    • Maximum weight (MB) and quantity: Upload limits per review. For video, allowed formats are also configured (e.g. mp4, mov).
  • Delete unused: Button to free up server disk space from orphan files (which were uploaded, but the review was never sent).

4. "Style" Tab ​

The module allows you to flexibly customize its appearance without CSS knowledge, directly from the admin panel. You can set your site's brand colors for:

  • Main text and block borders.
  • Round rating indicator (and its background).
  • Star color (active and inactive).
  • Like/dislike icon color (active and inactive).

5. "Review Reward" Tab ​

Gamification that encourages customers to leave detailed reviews. Works on the basis of the standard OpenCart bonus system. Awarded only to registered users.

  • You can set different amounts of points for:
    • Regular review.
    • Review with a photo (increased bonus).
    • Review with a video file or Youtube video.
    • Comment (reply to another user).
  • Points for likes: The module can automatically award points to the review author if other users found it useful and liked it (social encouragement).

6. "Cron" (Reminders) Tab ​

The functionality of automatically sending reminder emails to customers, asking them to leave a review for the purchased product.

  • Secret key: Key to protect the CRON link.
  • Number of days: How many days after the order to send the letter.
  • CRON link: Copy this link and add it to the task scheduler (CRON) on your hosting (usually executed once a day).
  • In the settings, you can also set the language of the letter and the notification text.
